When you live next to the Susquehanna River, you never know what kind of wildlife may show up. In recent years, over a 100+ Great Egrets have decided to call our quarry home. The Egrets come in early evening from most water sources (primarily the Susquehanna River) in the Lancaster and York county areas. They roost there until morning, then, go back to their feeding grounds. The quarry has also housed Belted King Fishers, Green Herons, Blue Herons, Snowy Egrets, Tricolored Herons, Wood Ducks, Ospreys, and many more species.
